Dree is no stranger to pregnancies bigger than her body, knowing most clothes simply won't fit around that belly. The tailmaws are especially protective and loving while she's in this state, having difficulty just standing let alone walking around, not like it's going to stop her when she's hungry though. And considering how many she's feeding, she gets ESPECIALLY hungry.
Chompers is giving one such example of them being defensive, even if it's a friend nearby. The only difference is if they recognize them as the father then they'll go docile and dote on whoever they are. That said they wouldn't out right attack a friend so long as they were cautious of approaching.
Course, I don't think Drynni would mind if she got a rather big, willing meal.
