To clarify, here is a gift picture of her showing her shade of fawn and her markings, and she has blue eyes as well. You cannot see here but she also has two spots on that same hip, identical to those: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3515339/
Her earlier design had a fluffy tail and flopped-forward ears (her ears still flop forward sometimes rather than how I drew them) so actually looked absolutely identical to this...

Yeah.. I don't wanna be all FAWN AND WHITE IS © MEEE!! cuz it's not at all.. and I don't wanna point accusations at anybody because it's possible it could just be coinsidence... but she just looks a lot like my older character design when she was part collie:

Really sorry about the similarities. Here is the reference that I gave the artist for the picture, which was basically me recoloring a picture of a dog in gimp:

Haven't met ya before and didn't know of your character, but sorry again for the similarities. I do promise it was not intentional. I was trying to come up with a sheltie coloration that was mostly white and really a bit of a mutt. :/

Thank you for being polite :) I did acknowledge above that it could just be a weird coinsidence, and also my character has changed since that initial 2006 character sheet, so I won't hold a grudge either way. I also didn't know shelties actually came in that colour. * - *
TL;DR
and to be perfectly fair (and picky :D), whilst the chars do look pretty much alike, they are not EXACTLY the same. Some of the patterning IS different, and the main culprit seems to be the chosen coloration (if the pattern had been... let's say... pink or something, would anyone have noticed?). and no, i was not aware of keihound's old char design either :).
THAT ASIDE, I also wanted to add my 2 cents as to why i severely doubt it being a ripoff (even though we've already established there are no hard feelings anywhere). since i had access to the refs and provided descriptions (and yuh, the creative process) - i have reason to doubt any sort of "theft". the main refs were 4 pictures of actual shelties and a written description which opened for my interpretation of it, and the final colour scheme was provided literally two hours before completion. now - i would say it would NOT take a week and a half to provide intentional ripoff ref material, at the same time as providing just the right type of ear ref on a sheltie photo. it's possible, but doesn't make much sense. so yes, this is my op. I call coincidence :>
