Jack's sword did not work on them. When he manages to cut one of the minion's limbs off despite their blitz like tactics of attacking him, it instantly grew back in a matter of seconds, and the minion picked up it's weapon and kept fighting as if nothing had happened. Combine that with their insane strength, speed, and agility, and you have quite a formidable foe. Jack: "These creatures are more powerful than anything I have ever encountered."
