Alexander has been indentured to the Empire's army as punishment for his parents crime of providing shelter to non-humans escaping from the Empire's justice. After his parents were killed, he was trained as a soldier by the Empire until he was 18. Under the supervision of the cruel, short-tempered Tychon, he served as a guard for four years.

At the age of 21, on a night off at a brothel called The Menagerie, Alexander bought a young female Kobold out from under Tychon, not to pleasure himself, but to rescue her. Taking her to a private room, they formed a romantic bond and decided to leave the Empire together. All they have to do is protect each other to the border.

In regards to the dragon form, Alexander doesn't get it until later in the story i'm writing. He is brought back to life by the magic of dragons, granting him the ability to shapeshift. You'll see the details when i upload the story.
