Chapter 76: The Legend of the Elements
“The Elements of Nature?” Mikey asked as he and the others gathered in the library. “That’s what Mother Nature told me.” Max replied; he had told his friends about the dream he had last night and what Mother Nature said.
“They helped Tantu to banish the Devourer,” he added. “they could help us.” “Well, the four classic elements are fire, water, earth and air.” David suggested. “I believe that’s what she meant.”
“Well, how exactly are they going to help us?” Jessica asked, raising an eyebrow. “We see these elements all around us, but they can’t exactly talk to us.” “Not exactly.” Max replied. “Mother Nature told me that the Elements are living things just like us.”
“It was said that the Elements had existed since the dawn of time,” he added. “and they helped the Guardian Beasts to create the world.” “They help Mother Nature to watch over the natural world and mostly keep to themselves.” He explained. “They will only reveal themselves when the time is right.”
“And when will that be?” Jake asked. Max sighed. “Mother Nature never told me; I’m not really sure about it myself.” Silence fell over the friends. “That means we got some work to do.” Jessica replied, a determined look on her face.
(3 hours later...)
“Urgh...” David groaned. “How long have we been searching?” The friends had been browsing through books, trying to find any sigh of the elements of nature. Sadly, they found nothing in any book.
“Maybe we should take a break.” Mikey suggested. “We’re getting nowhere.” “You can rest if you want.” Max told him. “I’ll keep looking.” “I’ll help him,” Jessica added. “Sure...” Jake replied, before he and the other boys went back to the desks.
“Do you really think the Elements will help us?” Jessica asked as she and Max continued to search through the shelves. “I’m sure, they’re the children of Mother Nature herself” he replied. “They care for nature just as she does.”
“Well, I hope you find something useful soon.” Jessica sighed a bit. “I’m getting bored with this.” “Bored with what?” Max and Jessica jumped a bit and looked to see the librarian pushing a cart of books. “There’s nothing boring about books, young lady.”
“I’m sorry, madam.” Jessica apologized. “I didn’t mean-” “It’s alright.” The librarian spoke up as she placed some books on the shelves. “It’s good to see young kids like you spending more time hitting the books than their phones for once.”
“Actually, miss.” Max added. “We’re looking for a book about the Elements of Nature.” “The Elements of Nature?” The librarian asked. “Yeah, it’s about the legend of the elements who helped a warrior known as the Wild Guardian to defeat an ancient evil known as the Devourer.” He replied
“Wild Guardian?” The librarian asked again. “Yes.” Max replied. “A warrior with the ability to shapeshift.” “I know it sounds strange,” he added. “but we were hoping to find it here.” The librarian was silent, before she smiled. “I believe I have what you are looking for.”
Max and Jessica were surprised. Before they could ask, the librarian took out a book from her cart and handed it to them. It had a bright green cover entitled `The Legend of The Wild Guardian. ` in big bold letters.
Their eyes widened in shock. “No way...” Max muttered. “How did you-?” When he looked up, the librarian was already gone. “This is it!” Jessica squealed. “We have to tell the others about this!” Shaking out of his stupor, Max nodded and the two of them went to rejoin the others.
What Max didn’t understand was that how did the librarian know about the Wild Guardian and how did she know what they were looking for.
