Yep, that's pretty much what it is, and those american "journalists" are pretty much stoking the flames by pushing ragebait, which is either made of a distorted version of the reality or just outright lies, in order to put people on edge and trigger these kinds of unrest like we've been seeing happening there, which they then use to increace their ratings . . .
And then to keep up the cycle, they defend the rioters, i guess in order to keep them on the streets and try to get more people to join to make things bigger . . .
Frankly, i think that should be against the law, but i'm not gonna opine much on the politics of someone else's country.
In my country, the press likes to cover as much bad news as possible, mostly crime related news, accidents, natural disasters, foreing wars, refugee crisies elsewhere in the world, we joke here that when you turn on the news, your TV starts bleeding, the same happens to the newspapers, meanwhile the radio stations like to see people get into heated arguments and even fights live on air, like one that happened a couple of days ago, where 2 guys from oposing political factions got into a fist fight on live and the radio hosts were practically having fun cheering and describing the ongoing fight . . .
And don't even get me started on the TV news, there was one case i decided to turn on the TV while i was having a snack in the afternoon and the news anchor was talking about a kid that fell from a building and he was telling the news crew on scene to "get in closer i want images of of the kid's brain splated on the floor", so i decided to keep the TV off

I don't mind the coverage of catastrophes, but stoking division and unrest in your own country, to put your own countrymen against each other and trigger riots that get peoples lives destroyed or ended, is just vile, and it should be considered a crime, i really can't understand how can americans think that riots should be ok or viewed as a form of "protest", its not, and people should never bow down and cater to the demands of rioters, regardless of what they are asking for, because otherwise you will be legitimising rioting, and sending the message that if you want things done, then you must be as violent and destructive as possible, that is extremely harmful to a country.
