The continent of Zhonggou is ruled by an ancient sovereign dragon known as Shanlong, the Gilded Emperor. You'd think having a dragon obsessed with balance and order as your ruler would be a good thing. Unfortunately for the people of Zhonggou, the Gilded Emperor is obsessed with balance on a strange cosmic level, decreeing for every good lord, there must be an equally evil one.

Since making these decrees decades ago, the Gilded Emperor has sequestered himself away deep in his Golden Palace in the heart of the Forbidden City; all the while, Zhonggou bleeds. Lords and ladies of Zhonggou have, in secret, began whispering of conspiracies to overthrow the Emperor and reclaim their continent from the evil that has engulfed it. So far, none have had the bravery to act.
