Closely related to the flame drake, The Black Lava Drake is the largest known species of terrestrial drakes At a total body length exceeding 20 meters, it rivals the true dragons in terms of size and fire-power.
Out of all known drake species, this one relies on its breath weapon the most. Tempered by the blistering heat of its volcanic habitat, it spews bright-blue flames from its maw. Only Red Fire Dragons and actual Fire Elementals can withstand temperatures that are this high.

If there is a territory not dominated by a Red Fire Dragon, the Black Lava Drake stands there at the absolute top of the food chain.
