After Ryuu and Auroth got married and settled down in Chowa, they did think of having children, but Auroth's altered biology due to the Highfather's power that made her into an Aspect prevented this.
So when they consulted Sora on this matter, she offered to give them a blessing to bypass that restriction (and perhaps unintentionally passed some of her traits onto their offspring).
And thus, Desmond and Troy were born. They also viewed Sora as their mother even though she was more of a godmother.

They're technically twins, but Troy is the older sister.
Desmond is the typical nerdy type, at younger age he was more or less the knowledge sponge for Auroth and Sora, but later on also learned to enjoy pursuing knowledge.
Troy on the other hand took up archery (as per her grandmother's heritage) and military training, hence appearing a lot more stern (but slightly tsundere?)

They grew up as ambassadors / diplomats for both Terra and Chowa realms.
They live, work and travel a lot together.
