He's actually trying to tone it down here- keep himself small, easily-comprehended, unimposing! The sort of ordinary divine form and scale that doesn't raise attention or panic like going in at a less-small size might.
... Is it working? He's got great eyesight, but admittedly sometimes a fur strand swishes in the way or such and it's hard to tell, especially with all those blushes. Well, for now he'll assume it's working, and greet these wonderful and lovely new friends!
