Doctor Samuel Blaire Briar [Reference Sheet]
"Of the entirety of House Briar, I've always found Samuel Blaire to be the most uniquely fascinating, though perhaps my opinions are skewed seeing as we share similar... interests. The Briar's have a long and proud history of famous hunters, brilliant professors, and accomplished public figures, but I do believe he is the first Doctor in the family, though the term should be used lightly. He is still a hunter at heart, like his father and his father before him, and his work as a man of healing is... removed from the traditional posts of the occupation. How many of his patients, I wonder, realize just what kinds of eldritch nightmarish and hypogean terrors he's saved them from, using syringe and rifle alike."
- Lord Sabine Auctis Larento, from "On the Matter of the Bloodlines."
Of the collection of ancient names and noble bloodlines that make up the unnamed club [some may prefer the word "cult"] of paranatural-obsessed elites, the Briars are perhaps the most outwardly famous. While the others sit in their shadows, hoarding knowledge, making contact, collecting artifacts, and otherwise effecting rituals and hobbies of the eldritch and paganistic, the Briars hunt. A proud family of Hares whose bloodline extends past the lifespan of some empires, every generation has seen members whose names soak the pages of history books and scientific collectives. Some have become knights, professors, explorers, detectives, even political leaders, but they all hunt.
Samuel is the first bonafide doctor of the family, a prestiged medical student whose studies on the true effects of once rejected ancient "alchemy" recipes sparked brand new life into the field of herbology and medicinal botanics. While his methods were considered unusual and sometimes even bordering on the mystical, the effects could not be denied, though he did insist on broadening his knowledge to other fields, including anatomy, surgical studies, disease treatment, and more. In between his work, he would go off on his many hunts, never leaving his beloved over-under barreled rifle far from his grasp, nor his trusted breech loaded pistol, both of which were custom made and have been noted for various... oddities in their design. Though many assume the strange runes etched into their barrels are merely aesthetic. it's harder to write off the sheer power invested in the weapons, enough to easily take down an elephant, and that fact that the rifle butt possesses a hidden compartment, in which a small book or journal is seemingly kept.
His physical appearance, on the other hand, is impossible to hide, and while his patent for long-coats helps to hide the unexpected and often shocking level of muscle he possesses, the coloring of his fur and the bizarre case of his eyes lead to many questions and long stares. It is no mystery that Samuel was born as a snow-furred rabbit, and only once he reached a more mature age did the fur begun to suddenly and drastically darken, more and more. Even now it is still in the process of turning pitch black, some even making the unintentionally apt comment of relating him to Sabine Larento, a black owl and fellow wealthy oddity. The eyes however, are explained away as a genetic anomaly in the family, though few buy this excuse. His eyes were once a dark, cool blue, and as normal as any others, but now his iris were mere serpentine pinpricks in a glowing sea of cerulean.
It's a secret to none that there is some supernatural flair to Samuel, and his entire family, just like the others they spend their time with, the Larentos, Weirs, Rellians and Costigaens. But, who will stand up and question such a wealthy, powerful and prestigious family? Who would dare excuse them of sorcery or witchcraft when their history only shows them improving everything they touch. A deal was struck perhaps, some time in the far past, or perhaps they stumbled upon a power unlike any other. The outsiders can whisper and whisper all they want, but they rarely get close to the truth of House Briar and the enigmatic, well-spoken doctor.
Besides, Samuel himself is well-liked by those who can get past his external strangeness. As a doctor he is one of the best and most honest, as a hunter he is remarkably skilled, and as a man of great wealth he is surprisingly generous and street-smart. If he arrives at your house, however, be sure to follow his instructions to the letter, no matter how strange. Your life my depend on it, because chances are he's there to heal what ails you, your family, or your property.
And often to heal, he must hunt.

We once again find ourselves introducing a new boi to the roster, this time a big handsome hare from a family related to that bizzare, tall ass owl Sabine. Seems like we might have a subplot of some kind brewing~
