Chapter 3- Alola little star children (Ben's POV)
Soon after Kat was taken by two of the Guardian Deities into an Ultra Wormhole while leaving Bruiser, Ben and his Popplio behind, the Sullicoot soon woke up from his nap with a yawn and stretch.
“Mmmmmmmm man. I had no idea how much I needed this little R&R.” He said as Popplio also awoke, being patted on the head by its trainer while making a cute sound as Ben looked around for Kat.
“Kat?... Kat?” He stood up, making sure to keep the Sea Lion Pokemon on his right shoulder as they started looking around for Kat or Bruiser. “Kat? Bruiser? Where are you two? Oh please don’t tell me they just wandered off and left us here by ourselves.” Ben did sound a bit annoyed but worried too as he comforted his starter Pokemon, but neither of them knew of what had happened to Kat.
Or what was about to happen to them either…
What Ben had no idea about was that he was being watched from a bush, as it rustled and got his attention. “H-huh? Oh, just a rustling bush. I’ll admit I jumped a little, but maybe that’s where Kat went? Suppose it’s worth checking out, right Popplio?” With the Sea Lion Pokemon nodding to confirm, the Sullicoot decided to slowly and cautiously approach the bush while making sure neither him or his Water type Pokemon were to be hurt unless it turned out to be Bruiser or a different Pokemon altogether.
When he approached the rustling bush though… he was soon surprised and spooked by what had come out from it that he ended up falling back onto his butt and onto the sand of the beach! “A-aaagggghhh… Talk about giving me a near heart attack. You okay though Popplio?” He asked with concern as he petted the head of the Sea Lion Pokemon, who only nodded, though nothing could have prepared either trainer or Pokemon for what they came out of the bush.
“W-what in the… What the!?” Both Ben and his Popplio were in shock, but especially the Sullicoot as they saw what looked to be two totem-like Pokemon! The one to the right of them looked like a yellow rooster-like creature with some orange on its body, which happened to look quite a little hyperactive as well. While to the left of them was a bull-like creature with some red over its body, horns on its head, a nose ring, hooves for “hands” as well as a kind of bell-like tail at the end.
Ben was just absolutely stunned to be actually seeing them in the flesh for the very first time. This wasn’t exactly the kind of scenario that he was expecting at all… especially since he had at least heard of these kinds of Pokemon from Professor Kukui last time he was at Alola. Suddenly the pokemon with aspects of a rooster spoke up,
“Don’t be afraid young one, for we mean you no harm. I am Tapu Koko, and the one beside me is Tapu Bulu. We oversee the islands of Alola” Tapu Koko explained, though it would be more accurate to say he explained telepathically instead of physically with his cries
“How… How long were you there?” The Sullicoot, though confused and a little scared, decided to at least try speaking with them as he stood up while clutching onto his Popplio to keep it safe. “Wait, how’re you able to even talk with me as well? Because I’m freaking out a little about that.” Ben explained. Tapu Bulu was the next to communicate with Ben,
“We are capable of communicating through telepathy, and to answer your first question- we have been watching you and your comrade since you appeared on the beach. You two may just be the ones we seek,” Tapu Bulu explained
Ben listened to Tapu Bulu but was a bit confused until he realised what they had meant by comrade,
“Wait, you mean Kat? Where is he? Is he safe? Did anything happen to him?” Ben asked,
“Yes, our allies took him to somewhere more private to explain something to him,” Tapu Koko explained,
“What do you mean by that? And when you say allies, are you talking about the other Guardian Deities?” He soon realised he was pushing aside an important question. “Oh wait. What exactly do you mean we’re the ones you seek?” Tapu Bulu spoke up next,
“You’re a Sullicoot, and the keyblade wielder from another world, right?” Tapu Bulu asked, “Well yeah, that’s correct.” Ben answered.
“Then there’s no time to waste,” Tapu Koko commented before an ultra wormhole opened up right behind them.
“W-woah!!” Ben exclaimed in shock, sounding a bit like an all too familiar bandicoot as he cleared his throat. “Sorry, I was in shock.” He said before pulling out Popplio’s Pokeball. “Sorry that you have to go back in, but I don’t wanna risk losing you.” Though a bit saddened, Popplio did understand as its trainer recalled the Sea Lion Pokemon back into its Pokeball before putting it away safely. “Okay, think that’s everything… Though I do hope Bruiser’s okay. The Tapus carefully grabbed each of Ben’s hands and carefully yet assertively led him through the ultra wormhole
Soon when Ben opened his eyes, he could see he was in a different location. Castle-like ruins standing in the middle of a lake with a stone bridge to cross, as the sky looked dark and grey like a storm was about to erupt. When he looked around, the Sullicoot saw that the Tapus who guided him were no longer with him. “Where did they go?” He asked aloud, though soon looked at the ruins, thinking he was brought here to investigate them. “Well… What else can I really expect? Better get moving.”
And soon he pressed on and crossed the bridge before entering the ruins, seeing a long hallway and a long flight of stairs. “Kind of reminds me of those RPGs and games where it’s kind of obvious how to proceed.” He said, as he started climbing them step by step before he reached the top before long, and was confronted with what was outside at the top. “Whoa…”
At the top of those steps was an alter-like room which looked like it was night time, and more flight of steps as he climbed them before finally reaching the proper top as he came face to face with both the Tapus, as well as a small smog-like Pokemon that Tapu Koko was holding surprisingly gently.
“Is that… a Pokemon?” Ben asked both Tapus in awe, and confusion as he somehow recalled the small creature being held. Tapu Koko nodded,
“Yes, this is Cosmog, and while he might not seem like much right now, like you he has a great destiny ahead of him,” Tapu Koko explained,
“What do you mean by that Koko? If you’re okay with me calling you that of course.” Ben asked since he wanted to be respectful.
“That’s fine, I don’t care too much. As for what I mean- When raised right, Cosmog can evolve into one of two legendary pokemon,” Tapu Koko explained, “Hold on, Cosmog will eventually evolve into either one of two Legendary Pokemon?” Ben asked, looking down for a moment to see a symbol that resembled a moon as he looked back at Tapu Koko. Tapu Bulu was the next to speak up though,
“Yes, the Lion of the Sunne, or the Bat of the Moone, through patience and love will Cosmog reach its true form,” Tapu Bulu explained,
“So basically from what I’m understanding, especially with what happened to Kat…” Ben soon asked them. “We’re going to have a Solgaleo and Lunala each? I have only heard of them from the professor last time I was here in the region. But never did I expect it would be something of reality!” said Ben in amazement,
“Reality can often be very strange, though it’s true. The thief of darkness must raise his Cosmog into Solgaleo, while you must raise yours into Lunala. It’s important to prevent catastrophe,” Tapu Koko explained,
“A catastrophe? Of what kind? And why must we also raise our Cosmogs to be of the elements that are ironically opposed to us?” Ben asked them both, hoping that his questions would be answered. Tapu Bulu floated closer,
“To put it simply, fate favors those who work hard to achieve greatness,” Tapu Bulu explained
“I… I’m sorry. I’m just a bit confused here. I might need more of an explanation that’ll make sense to me.” Ben replied,
"Are you familiar with the expression- "nothing good comes easy"?" Tapu Koko asked,
“No. Never heard of it. Though… I can at least recall some experiences. Especially that one time I had to clear my name for something I didn’t do, and feeling close to death in the process.” Ben said, recalling one of his adventures. Tapu Bulu spoke up next,
"To put it simply- raising your Cosmogs into Solgaleo and Lunala will be challenging for you and Kat, but the fact that it'll be challenging will be crucial for their development," Tapu Bulu explained,
“Basically… So long as we keep going despite the challenges put to us, our Cosmogs will eventually fully evolve into their final evolved forms you mean?” Ben had a moment to think about it, before he decided to answer. “Even if it’ll be a bit hard, I’ll do it. I’ll raise my Cosmog so it’ll become the bat of the Moone. Though I wanna ask something. Why will Kat’s become a Solgaleo, and mine a Lunala?” Ben asked,
"Because when your Cosmogs evolve into Cosmoem, you'll know they're nearly ready to evolve further. Their final evolution depends on which Alter they visit when the time is right," Tapu Koko explained,
“Altars? You mean like the kind of place where Kat and I stand at now?” The Sullicoot asked as he did look down to see the moon-like symbol to acknowledge what he was referring to.
"Yes, this is the Altar of the Moone, and Kat is at the Altar of the Sunne," Tapu Bulu explained,
“I see, I think I’m starting to make sense of it now. While not completely at the moment, I feel like at least enough to understand what I need to do.” Ben said.
"Excellent, now take Cosmog," Tapu Koko instructed as he floated closer to Ben and handed Cosmog to him
The Sullicoot soon took the Cosmog into his hands, holding it gently as he looked down to see it’s face and smiling a bit when it smiled at him. Though he soon raised his head back up to look back at both the Guardian Deities present with him. “I take it that’s everything for now though?” Ben asked, though Tapu Bulu floated closer and offered a strange white wristband to Ben,
"Almost, take this Z-Ring as well," Tapu Bulu instructed
“Z-Ring? I actually get one of my own?” As the Guardian Deity handed him a white wristband-like device with an empty diamond-like slot, before deciding to place it on his right wrist as he showed it off a bit after putting it on. “Not gonna lie, but this is pretty cool that I’m actually getting one of my own!” The Sullicoot exclaimed a bit with excitement. The Tapus gave Ben a mouth less smile,
"It's good to see that you're excited about this. Though with that being said, we should really return you back to where we picked you up from," Tapu Koko explained as another ultra wormhole opened beside them.
“Right. And since Cosmog is practically like any other Pokemon… I’m just gonna keep calling it Cosmog. I mean, an obvious nickname for one would be Nebby anyway. Plus I’m happy using its normal name. Anyway, let’s go back to the beach Cosmog! Maybe I can introduce you to Popplio as well.” Ben said as Cosmog smiled happily as its new trainer smiled as well, being held in the arms as the Sullicoot walked towards the Ultra Wormhole. “Tapu Koko, Tapu Bulu… When the day comes for us to meet again. I look forward to it. Farewell for now.” Soon, Ben entered the Ultra Wormhole with his new Pokemon, and soon… back to where he had been previously.
Though when Ben got his bearings after crossing through the ultra wormhole, he soon found that he wasn't back at the beach on Route 15, and was in fact in the middle of a village. “H-huh? Wait a minute…” He said as he looked around. “This isn’t the beach I was at, or even Route 15 at all. Where the heck am I even at?” He asked aloud to himself, while he still held his Cosmog in his arms, who simply responded with pokemon cries that resembled adorable infant coos.
“Awwwww.” The Sullicoot gushed a bit as he stroked the Nebula Pokemon softly, who ended up making sounds that sounded like a laughing baby. Though he decided to at least walk and look around to see where he was. “Maybe someone here might be able to tell me where I am.” said Ben, though he noticed a stampede of Tauros charging at him of all things “What the!? AUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGHHH!!!” He screamed with a bit of a high pitch as he ran hoping to find safety, meanwhile clutching his Cosmog tightly close to him in the event of the worse… which seemed inevitable as he tripped and landed on his front which luckily didn’t hurt Cosmog in the process. Thankfully though, in a case of dumb luck, Ben managed to not get stepped on as the multiple Tauros passed over him, and immediately after this Ben heard a female voice call out to him in concern-
"Are you okay??"
“I’m… I’m alright. A little shaken up. But I’m alright.” The Sullicoot answered the female voice, catching his breath as he slowly calmed down. “Guess I didn’t get stepped on. Though… What the heck just happened anyway. Nearly had a heart attack as well.” Soon, he started to stand up and collect himself while making another comment. “Good thing neither of us got hurt though.” The female spoke up once again, this time her tone was in amazement,
"Hold on… could that be.. a Cosmog?"
“Y-yeah, that’s right.” Though surprised, Ben answered the female as he fully stood up while looking down at his Cosmog to face the figure. “I’m actually surprised you know what a Cosmog is. Have you actually seen one for yourself?” He asked as he lifted his head up, getting a proper look at the female who found him.
Ben was face to face with a human girl with long blond hair that was done into a ponytail, green eyes and wearing a white shirt, white skirt, white socks and white shoes. As well as a cute pink backpack with some white decor on it. The girl spoke in a very timid and mild mannered tone,
"Yes actually, in fact I thought for a second that the one you were holding was the one I knew. Though I remembered why that couldn't be the case…" the girl explained, seeming quite sad
“Oh? Never expected to run into someone who also knew about Cosmog. But if you don’t mind me asking, was it because it evolved fully?” Ben asked the girl, though wanting to tread carefully. The girl nodded,
"His name was Nebby, and he eventually became a Solgaleo, and he had to go into Ultra Space to keep the balance," the girl explained
“Oh. So that explains why you know about Cosmog… And why I can tell you miss him and feel nostalgic.” Ben said as he could sense some sadness from her, before deciding to ask a different question. “Though I’m curious about one thing, what are you actually doing here? And what was with those Tauros as well too?” Ben asked,
"I like coming to Tapu Village from time to time, it's nice and quiet around here, and the Tauros like to run where they can, being on an island and all. They aren't actively malicious, though they can be pretty reckless about where they're going," the girl explained
“So I’m in Tapu Village then?” Ben asked, as he looked around to see ruins of houses where they once stood. As well as a Pokemon Center too. “And probably explains why I saw them running towards me. Though I will confess it did surprise me that they managed to run around me, leaving me with no injuries at all.” Ben said to the girl, who smiled,
"Well that's good," said the girl,
“Agreed.” Though Ben realised something as he mentally face palmed himself. “I can’t believe I didn’t introduce myself… Still. I’m Ben. Ben Fuller. And you are?” He asked the girl.
"Lillie, spelled with an ie at the end instead of a y, also I hope this doesn't come off as rude but… what are you? Your species I mean," Lillie asked,
“Oh my species? Well not to worry about just now, it wasn’t coming across as rude at all. I totally understand you wanting to know. I’m a Sullicoot. Basically a hybrid of a bandicoot and a kind of monster. Not exactly from around here. In fact, I’m actually here with some others as well too.” Ben said as he gave his species, and mentioned he was with the other Anthros of Justice. Lillie nodded at Ben's explanation,
"I see, so you guys are kind of like superheroes," Lillie commenteded. “Something like that, but without the superhero suits and capes of the traditional kind.” Ben added. “I’m sure if you see for yourself someday, you’ll understand what I mean by that.” Ben explained,
"So are you guys here on some big important mission?" Lillie asked, “Well… Most of us are. Me and another member are more for exploring this island on our own, having some fun in the process. Looking for him, though it’s kind of a long story of why. Especially since it involves how I got my Cosmog.” Ben said with a bit of a sigh. “Today really has been eventful, maybe I might need something to take my mind off the stress. Maybe…” Ben thought about what to do before asking Lillie. “Say Lillie, are you a Pokemon trainer by any chance?” He asked her. Lillie looked away timidly,
"Um.. kind of? Not much of one though," Lillie explained, “Hey if it helps, I recently became one myself. So we’re kind of in the same boat actually.” Ben said as he chuckled. “I know this may sound sudden… Would it actually be okay if we could have a quick battle?” Ben asked before adding another comment. “Also, I do have another Pokemon too. So don’t have to worry about Cosmog getting hurt.” He said. Lillie fiddled with her backpack straps as she replied,
"Well that's good, I know from experience that Cosmog isn't really a fighter… as for your proposal, I guess I can give it a try, especially since there's a pokemon center nearby, though I can't guarantee I'll be much of a challenge," Lillie explained,
Ben chuckled a bit. “You never know, especially since it’ll be my very first Pokemon battle. Though it might be a good idea to move a bit so there’ll be space.” He pointed out to her.
After finding an area on the outskirts of Tapu Village that was nice and open, Lillie and Ben began their battle,
"How about you let out your pokemon first? It's been a while since I did it by throwing the ball," Lillie explained
“Oh okay then. I suppose I better let my Pokemon out.” Ben said as he pulled Popplio's Pokeball out from a pocket, before pressing the middle of it and throwing it into the air. “Come on out Popplio!” As he exclaimed that, the Pokeball opened up and a white light came out and hit the ground before it took shape and dispersed to reveal Popplio again as it cried out. Lillie's eyes lit up when she saw Ben's Popplio,
"Ah a Popplio, thankfully I'm pretty familiar with those thanks to Lana," Lillie explained as she dug through her pink backpack for her pokeball,
“That’s good, especially since it was a gift from Professor Kukui when I came here on vacation last time. But who’s Lana though? And why’s that too?” Ben asked out of curiosity while he waited for her. Lillie finally found and retrieved her pokeball from her backpack, revealing that it was specifically a Heal Ball,
"A friend of mine, and one of the Trial Captains, specifically the Water Trial Captain," Lillie explained,
“Ooooooooh. So basically specialising in Water type Pokemon too. Also, that’s quite a unique looking Pokeball too. First time I’ve seen one like that.” Ben said. Lillie held the ball out so Ben could get a good look at it,
"It's a Heal Ball, a special type of Pokeball that heals the pokemon they catch. Most people think they're pretty useless since pokemon that you catch when you have 6 pokemon with you get sent to your PC, thus get healed anyway, but I personally like them," Lillie explained with a smile,
“Oh I get it now. Plus I’m pretty sure every kind of trainer has their preferences with what Pokeball are used to catch their Pokemon. So I wouldn't wanna argue about that. Though I’m curious what Pokemon you have. Can I see it soon Lillie?” He asked her, getting a bit excited about the upcoming battle. Lillie followed Ben's lead and pressed the center button on her pokeball before throwing it into the air,
"Let's go, Clefairy!" Said Lillie as a white light poured out of the Heal Ball and took the form of a Clefairy that joined Popplio on the battlefield.
“Oh cool! A Clefairy!” Ben exclaimed with excitement, before he took a position behind Popplio who looked at him and they both nodded, before facing Lillie and her Clefairy. “As much as I’d like to know why you chose a Clefairy, I’m already itching for my first ever battle! You ready for this Lillie?” He asked her, feeling ready for the battle about to start,
"About as ready as I can be," Lillie replied,
“Then let’s do this…” Ben said as the battle… soon began! “Popplio! Use Water Gun!” Ben commanded Popplio, as it shot out a stream of water towards Clefairy!
"Clefairy! Use Metronome!" Lillie commanded, causing the little pink pokemon to wag her stubby arms back and forth until the sunlight around Ben and Lille got intense, causing Lillie to wipe her forehead, and though Clefairy got hit by the water gun, the intense sunlight seemed to lessen the effectiveness of the attack.
“W-what’s going on here?” Ben asked in confusion as he wiped his forehead with his hand and his Popplio panting a bit from the heat after using the move. “D-did that just cause a random move to activate?” Now he was starting to know how battles would get intense in the world of Pokemon,
"Yep, that's what Metronome does, it can use just about any known move, with the downside being that the move is random, in this case it caused Clefairy to use "Sunny Day" Lillie explained,
“E-even so, whatever happens is gonna be unpredictable.” Ben said, before he started thinking to himself. “Not only am I going to have to be cautious whenever Metronome is used, but also just in case it causes a damaging Fire type move to be used with the weather… No. Or even Solar Beam!!” Ben realised as he thought to himself in his head, though decided to continue battling. “Even so, I’ll make sure to trust my gut and think on the fly! Speaking of… Popplio, use Water Gun again!” Ben commanded, before adding a twist. “But to propel yourself forward to Clefairy, then use Pound!” He added to it, Popplio did as Ben instructed and used a weakened Water gun to propel himself forward, though before he could land the pound Lillie did some quick thinking of her own,
"I don't think so! Clefairy quick, use Attract!" Lillie instructed. While Popplio was in point blank range, Clefairy quickly kissed her hand, then cutely blew a heart to Popplio, which caused hearts to appear in his eyes, stopping him in his tracks from attacking.
“W-what the heck!? What happened to you Popplio!?” Ben asked in complete shock as his expression changed a bit like what would be seen in an anime, before it became one of worry as he saw Popplio standing there with the heart eyes. “W-what happened to Popplio!?” He asked Lillie about what just happened,
"Clefairy used Attract, so Popplio became infatuated with her, so I guess your Popplio is a boy. Though I guess most starters are boys most of the time," Lillie commented,
“I uh… I suppose it’s true. Just didn’t know about mine. Of all times to get a confirmation like this though. Oh man… I gotta find a way to snap Popplio out of his trance before he starts getting his butt kicked!” Ben said as he started to think, hoping to find an answer. Though Lillie wasn’t going to wait around to give Ben a chance to counter her,
“Clefairy! Double Slap!” Lillie instructed, causing Clefairy to move closer to the lovestruck Popplio and slap it first with a front handed slap, then a backhanded slap,
“Now Metronome again!” Lillie commanded, taking advantage of Popplio still being infatuated to hit a combo. Clefairy wagged her hands back and forth, and suddenly leaves glowing with rainbow energy appeared next to Clefairy and flew at Popplio, hitting it head on and dealing noticeable damage,
“Magical Leaf! Now that’s good luck!” said Lillie excitedly. Thankfully though the Magical Leaf finally shook Popplio out of his infatuation,
“Popplio!!” Ben shouted in concern! Though thankful to see Popplio had snapped out of it, he was concerned about the damage done to the Sea Lion Pokemon as he even looked like he was struggling to stand! “Please Popplio! Don’t give up! Keep fighting! I believe in you buddy! Even if you’re my first Pokemon, and this is my first battle… I wouldn’t ever trade you for anyone else! So keep standing, and keep fighting! Never give up! You saved my life when we first met, and I’m really thankful for you ever since… So if you can brave a burning building, I know you can do anything as long as we don’t give up! So fight on Popplio! I believe in you!!!” said Ben with passionate encouragement, causing Popplio to look back at him with misty eyes,
“Lio…” said Popplio to his beloved trainer,
“Time to finish this! Disarming Voice!” Lillie commanded, causing Clefairy sing a bit, sending a wave of visible sound and musical notes towards Popplio, who looked back at Ben, and strangely enough signalled Ben with darting eyes that he also knew that move, and in fact encouraged him to command him to use it,
The Sullicoot soon nodded. “Very well then…” He said, as he looked at the incoming Disarming Voice and both Lillie and her Clefairy. “Before it’s curtains for us, let us give our final swan song.” Soon, Ben gave his command to Popplio. “Popplio… Use Disarming Voice! And give them with it the passion of an upcoming star with all your heart! NOW!!” He shouted as he felt like this was the deciding moment! Popplio’s body then glowed with a blue energy before he sang a beautiful song where bubbles flowed around him and out of his mouth, and unlike Clefairy’s disarming voice, the musical notes of Popplio’s were blue, and it was around this time that the intense sunlight faded. The disarming voices collided, but Popplio’s easily overpowered Clefairy’s and hit Clefairy directly, leaving it not only badly damaged, but open to a finishing attack
“Now then Popplio, let’s try this again as our finishing strike! Use Water Gun to propel yourself to Clefairy, charge up your Pound, and then use it on her! And don’t be afraid to use Growl just in case she tries something. LET’S DO THIS BUDDY!!” He commanded his Popplio. Popplio did as his trainer instructed and propelled himself forward with a water gun shooting the opposite direction, then he hit Clefairy with a Pound that likely hurt more due to having a running start, and as it turned out, there was no need for the Growl since Clefairy was knocked unconscious.
It took a moment as Ben and Popplio were both panting, as well as everyone present taking in what happened… before Ben spoke first. “Did… Did we actually do it? Did we… w-win Popplio?” He asked his Pokemon, before a wide smile started to slowly come across his face. Lillie walked over to her Clefairy and picked her off the ground,
“Yep, you won, congratulations Ben,” said Lillie with good sportsmanship,
“I won… I WON!!” He loudly exclaimed as he ran up to Popplio who also came up to him, picking up the Sea Lion Pokemon and giving him a hug as he laughed and shed some tears of joy. “I’m just so happy we did this together, Popplio! And well… it was also quite a close call there as well Lillie. So thanks for putting up a great fight there. You were pretty great there.” Ben said as he gave thanks to both his Pokemon and Lillie, actually reaching out one of his arms for a handshake with her. Lillie complied and walked closer before shaking his hand, meanwhile Popplio gave his trainer some kisses on his cheek,
During the handshake, the Sullicoot did chuckle as his Pokemon gave him some kisses on his cheek before holding him up in both hands when the handshake was over. “Somebody’s in a really good mood today. Though… I wanna know something. How did your Disarming Voice look different from Clefairy’s?” Ben asked, after he did realise the difference in how both of them looked. Lillie spoke up,
“I think I know, Lana told me about this, see Popplio has a hidden ability called “Liquid Voice”, which causes sound based attacks to turn into water type attacks, thus makes them more powerful,” Lillie explained,
“Ooooooooh.” He soon realised as he looked at Popplio. “So that’s how yours looked so different. I wonder, what other secrets are you hiding under your flippers buddy?” He asked with a chuckle. In response Popplio sang a cute little tune for his trainer,
“Awwwwwwww. That’s quite a voice you got there Popplio.” Ben said as he petted Popplio on the head, before calling his Cosmog to his side to give it a pet on the head to. Just so it wouldn’t feel left out. Lillie looked towards the Pokemon Center in the distance,
“Hey Ben, I think we should get our pokemon healed,” Lillie suggested,
“I agree. Let’s head there now before anything else happens.” said Ben as everyone soon headed towards the location of the Tapu Village Pokemon Center to get their Pokemon who battled earlier fully healed up.
After a quick trip to the center and a quick talk with Nurse Joy, Ben and Lillie exited the Center to see the rest of the Anthros waiting outside,
“H-huh? What’re you guys doing here? And when did you get here as well too?” Ben asked, surprised when he saw the others with him and Lillie. Doggie was the first to speak up,
“We got here just a minute ago, we’re still trying to find the pokemon that Professor Kukui explained was a problem, namely- Mewtwo,” Doggie explained,
“Wait. Mewtwo? As in the Legendary Pokemon Mewtwo?” Ben asked, knowing a bit about Mewtwo. “Just why would it be causing a problem though? Doesn’t make sense at all.”
“I dunno, though the bottom line is it’s the reason they sent out the distress call, so we need to find it and stop it,” Panthro explained,
“By the way, where’s Kat bro?” Sulley asked,
“Oh right! I was so preoccupied with what was going on I forgot to look for him!” Ben realised in a bit of a panic! “But I can explain what I think happened though, especially since it happened to me. It’s also…” He said, as he showed them the Cosmog he was holding in his arms. “It’s actually also how I managed to get this little guy. Kat probably has one of his own as well from what I know from two of the Guardian Deities.” Ben said while showing his Cosmog. “Yeah, I have quite the tale to tell you guys.” He added. Lillie’s eyes lit up,
“Wait, you encountered the Tapus??” Lillie asked in amazement,
“Who are you by the way?” Jon asked,
“I’m Lillie, a trainer local to Alola,” Lillie explained,
“Yeah, we met here in Tapu Village. And I do recall the ones I met were both Tapu Koko, as well as Tapu Bulu. They actually entrusted me with my Cosmog, and this as well.” Ben explained, as he pulled up his right Wrist to reveal his Z-Ring he was wearing right now. Leomon tilted his head,
“What is that thing?” Leomon asked,
“Oh I recognize that, it’s a Z-Ring, a special wristband that can harness the power of the Z-Crystals,” Lillie explained,
“I take it with them, you could turn the tide of battle, right?” Ben asked as he did also say something relating to earlier. “Oh yeah, me and Lillie even had a Pokemon battle too earlier! It was quite a close one too, especially for my very first Pokemon battle.” He mentioned, recalling the intensity of the battle.
Before the others could comment on Ben’s last statement, there was an explosion in the distance
“!! W-what in the world was that!?” Ben asked in shock, as he looked towards where the source of the explosion came from. Actually, going a bit wide eyed as he realised where it likely came from. “It can’t be… Route 15!?” Ben asked in surprise,
“You know how to get over there?” Panthro asked,
“I… G-give me a sec!” Ben answered as he pulled out his phone and looked for a map to use on it, breathing a bit with relief as he saw. “We should be able to get there as soon as we can by foot! It’s not a long walk away either! So hopefully we’ll have time to spare!” He said to Panthro. The team then made their way over to Route 15, leaving Lillie behind in Tapu Village.
The Anthros could see Kat talking to Professor Kukui as he held a Cosmog of his own in his arms,
“Kat!!” Panthro called out in concern as Panthro ran over to him with the others,
“There you are! We’ve been looking all over for you, you had us worried sick!” Panthro explained with a concerned tone
“There’s no need for alarm, Kat and his amazing pokemon took care of the Mewtwo situation,” Kukui explained
“You did? Wait, why are you holding the same thing that Ben is holding?” Sulley asked,
“Long story,” said Kat dismissively, Kukui then approached Ben,
“Ah Ben! Just the guy I wanted to see, I trust that Popplio has been good to you, and vice-versa?” Kukui asked,
“You bet Professor, he’s already helped me out in some tight spots,” Ben explained,
“In that case- here” said Kukui as he took a blue Z-Stone out of his lab coat and handed it to Ben, who took it and gingerly examined it,
“What is it?” Ben asked,
“Well I can see you have a Z-Ring of your own, so I got you a shard of Primarium-Z for when Popplio fully evolves into Primarina,” Kukui explained,
“Ah I see, thanks Professor,” said Ben graciously,
“So the distress call is taken care of right? Meaning we can go home now?” Jon asked in annoyance,
“It would appear that way,” Leomon commented,
“Great, then let’s go. We have a long boat trip to go before we’re back home,” said Jon as he started walking back to the dock near Malie City. Panthro shivered a little at the realization that he’ll have to go onto the boat again, though he put on a brave face,
“Great job today team, especially you Kat. This was a successful mission, now let’s go home,” said Panthro as he started walking towards the dock. The other anthros followed suit and walked towards the dock, though Kat and Ben hung back to the end of the line so they could talk,
“So you have a Cosmog to raise too huh?” said Ben,
“Yep, and I take it you were given yours by the Tapus?” Kat asked,
“Yep,” Ben replied. Kat and Ben then looked at their own Cosmogs before sighing, it was a nice adventure with a nice resolution, but Kat and Ben were going to have to put a lot of work into raising their Cosmogs, though such is one of the many unexpected things to happen when you find yourself crossing over.
