Got a new one here that I think is pretty fun, lol :) though "new" might be subjective. In around July of last year I was doing some ghost-writing for a dude on Upwork and creating some synthwave-style tracks.
He explicitly forbade me from attaching my name to anything that I wrote, which is what ghost-writing means, but I don't necessarily have to like it, lmao -- especially since some of the songs that I wrote ended up being pretty darn good. Of course, since melodies aren't really copyrighted and musicians borrow from other musicians all of the time, I may end up stealing my own work at some point, rofl.
ANYWAY, all of that aside, I had this song as a 20-second WIP, and my client ended up rejecting this track because he said it "didn't sound synthwave enough" and that it "sounded like dinner bells" (hence the name). So, recently I decided to flesh it out and finish it, and I'm really super pleased with how it turned out.
Now instead of being some nameless track that's part of some random catalogue somewhere, you guys get to hear it! :D
Analysis as follows:
Key of A
Chords: Dmaj7, A6, C#m7, Dmaj7, E
Bridge: F, G, Ab, Bb
You might be wondering why I'm calling this "A" instead of "D lydian" or something -- especially when the song doesn't start nor end on the tonic -- and the reason for that is that the song is played over an A pedal point, and musically to my ears it just "sounds" like A.
If anyone here knows better, feel free to correct me, lol.
Enjoy! :D
