I actually had a very similar concept in mind for a tale... VERY similar.
A certain seed, sending out a resonance... individuals "unworthy" simply don't pick up on it, but to those vulnerable, an inaudible, increasingly irresistible urge to approach the site of the seed is felt. Those compatible might have personality types that match the mindset needed by the goddess to have a loyal beast of destruction nearby... Who knows for sure, but the being undergoing the shift... and that's *only* if the change comes with pre-installed memories and information...
My plant was a lot naughtier and rapacious though... a shapeshifting, tentacle-monster affair, that starts as a gently glowinig bulb...
After "melding" naughtily with the compatible recipient, the tree beneath re-awakens, lifting the now-attached victim to the sky in it's skybound branches...
Vines, leaves, and varied greenery attached to the mana tree absorb nutrients from sun, sky, earth, and water, and the attached bulb acts like an umbilical to transmit the nutrition, making the recipient grow and transform as the genetically tainted nutrition continues to be taken in.
I actually imagined the chamber containing this corruptive bulb to actually be colossal petrified flower bud, the bulb more akin to the stamen/pistol of the flower...
As the rest of the tree awakens, so too do the walls soften and come to life as soft, fragrant, concealing petals...
The flower only set to bloom, once the new mana-beast within has nearly out-grown it's confines... or, assuming the beast's final size isn't larger than the flower, it merely blooms after the transformation's completion.
The thought was conceived of back when I was experimenting with the idea of using sexuality in my tfs to add visceral intensity to the changes, but I simply never got around to it's completion.
So this sequence really makes me think back to all that, wondering if it would be a good idea to try reviving the project. Uu U
Thank you again, for having Master guide me here. you were right in assuming it would make me wistful and happy to observe.
Make sure to keep a journal of sorts of what it was like, being a being of mana...! :D
