Gettin sad on ya guys.
it's a return to folk really, but the bridge is pretty soulful and at least a little like "Live"
I want one of my trademarks in music to be a kind of coyote choir. I enjoy the falsetto "ooh"s and want to do more with them.
Wow I have so many bass solos for shia to learn come this fall X3 here's another!
Lyrics by Matt Royek
I opened up the cupboard today
Filing through what we had
I think it's gonna be the only way
I guess it really wasn't that bad
Looking back, it's been a while
The film grain can't hide my smile
Couple years, you call him yours
And I’ll shrug, and shut more doors
I'll light up the porch lamps
Hoping for some great unrest
But the men outside put the clamps
On the brightest, tightest and best
Looking back, it's been a while
The film grain can't hide my smile
Seven years, the rain still pours
And I shrug, and shut more doors
The fight was one I could not win
At least if I gave it enough
But it wasn't losing that killed within
But winning on your bluff
Looking back, it's been a while
The film grain can't hide my smile
Seven years, the rain still pours
And I shrug, and shut more doors
no I shut it if I can’t lock it then I’ll hafta
beat it outta you beat it outta you
Looking back, it's been a while
The film grain finally hides my smile
Twenty years, I couldn't ask for more
And I'll forget, and close the last door.

Matt Royek? Who's that, a newish member of The Zeta Tau chapter of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia or something?
I love the tone of the highest guitar part in the beginning, and the way your voice comes in is flawless (and look, an imitative entry too!)
And congrats on the actual music, it flows so naturally, with enough variation on the returns (what do you call them in modern terms?) that it's always interesting to listen to.
Give some mad props to the lyricist if you know him, that seventh stanza with two lines is a nice change from the others, quite unexpected. And your falsettos are getting better and better (oh, I wonder why =P, kidding of course!)

wow thank you very much! I'm getting a bit better on my guitar lead lines yeah.
HAHA that 7th stanza... I wrote. I was in the bridge and I thought damn this would be a cool rhythm here... better write some lyrics to match it!
and frigging google! tellin' you stuff.
I was in his pledge class actually ^^ and he's going to be my acoustic guitarist for live shows when I get back to campus.
He also wrote "sleep in the stars" if you remember that one.
