Spin storm earth is filled with creatures that defy convention, humans, animals, and demi humans alike are sometimes imbued with extranormal abilities. They've existed since recorded history and have left their mark at various points in time. While there are numerous reasons for these abilities we’ve placed the most common here.

Mutation: Mutants are the most common meta human type, they possess a mutant gene that develops into distinct anatomical structures that bestow extra normal abilities between early teens and their mid twenties. In the west particularly the united states and european federation mutants are subjected to regressive laws and acts of overt racism and violence (much like any other minority in those countries). Alongside minorities and demihumans, mutants have a clear spot as second class citizens in even the most left leaning western powers. Anti Mutant sentiment has a long history in the west getting its start in the late middle ages when the catholic church established the link between witches and their witchbreed servants i.e. mutants of the era. This was done in order to disenfranchise lower nobility from marrying into noble lines and earning the right to study under sanctioned magi of the day. It also had the effect of soldifying power between the church and the upper nobility of western europe in the late middle ages. The European federation embraces open segregation, travel bans, and mandatory medical screening in dealing with mutants and demi humans citing concerns of civil stability. In the new commonwealth there is a measure of tolerance but a very clear undercurrent of racism within the general populace and local governments, the United States however is noted the world over for it's harsh and regressive policies towards mutants. Anti mutant paranoia heightened by the red scare and anti civil rights sentiment metastecized into laws and policies that enable mandatory military service, non consensual sterilization, open segregation, and unethical medical experiments committed under the veneer of national security. East ward, particularly in the Soviet Union are the only territories mutants stand as equal citizens along side unenhanced humans. The Union has made incredible technological strides thanks to its mutant citizens and the disaffected minorities fleeing the west. With conditions deteriorating in the west and more opportunities rising in the east many countries fear a final great migration of mutants will finally tip the balance of power on earth.
