Shadow the hedgehog, one of the most powerful people in the entire world. After being created by Dr. Eggman himself, he’s the one who seems dangerous to Sonic and his friends. But once Sonic had reasoned with him about what he truly is, that’s when he started to betray his creator and joined forces with the blue hedgehog. During this new friendship, something much more clearer went into his mind, shoes. He was very obsessed about them very much, like the powers they gave him. Speed, strength, agility, sneak, and many more. So that’s why he’s been traveling to places to collect these shoes for his own greater good.

Before going on his trip, Tails came into his room. “Hey Shadow, what are you doing?” He asked as Shadow was putting on his old shoes.

“I was just about to head outside. I’m planning on grabbing some new shoes.” He explains before standing up from the bed.

“Well before you do that, I might need your opinion on this.” He said, getting the black hedgehog’s attention. “It’s for my…..project I’m working on.”

“I mean if it interesting to me then-”

“I can make and upgrade shoes with it.” Tails interrupts him.

“Show me it.” He said, now with his full attention.

Tails smiles and takes Shadow to his workshop where he was surprised by how huge this machine was. It looked like it could produce one hundred shoes in a minute. “Here it is. What do you think?”

Shadow didn’t know what to think. He was just so happy that Tails made something for his own hobby, shoes. “I’m…...speechless. How does it work?”

“Well first, let me take your shoes.” Tails requests, getting Shadow to take off his shoes and gives them to him. “Thanks.” Tails then places it inside a metal container and closes it tightly. “Next, we go over to this screen over here.” On the touch screen were a bunch of buttons with a lot of options to choose from. There was a copy button which could mean that he can make as many shoes he wants, an upgrade button that’s used to help make his shoes stronger and faster, and finally a delete button that permanently gets rid of the shoes. Shadow hated the third option and would never press that in his life with this machine. So he decides to push the upgrade button and gets a load of choices. “Here you can choose anything you want in the quickest time you can ever imagine.”

“No way.” He said with anticipation. Looking at all the upgrades he can choose, he goes for the rocket boosts. It was something that he could always use when chasing someone or being chased. So he clicks on that and the machine comes to life with sounds of cranking and whirling. It almost sounded like a washing machine on high wash. Next was the ding sound, like a bell, before a side door of the machine opened up. Inside was his shoes, the same ones that were placed into the machine. The two could see how steamy it was like it just came out from an oven. “It’s done?” He asks.

“Yep, try them out.” Tails insisted.

“Will do.” He joyfully says as he grabs the shoes and puts them on. At first, besides the warmth, he didn’t feel any changes from his shoes. “I’m not sure if it’s working.”


“You have to run with them.” He said, making Shadow chuckle in idiocy.

“Of course.” So he goes outside and gets into a starting pose before he takes off in speed. These shoes were giving him the extra boost that he wanted. Shadow went around the world three times and came back to the workshop in under ten seconds.

“That has to be a new record for you, Shadow.” Tails said as Shadow was all pumped up in excitement from that run.

“These shoes are awesome!” And so he goes back into the workshop, looking at the machine again. “I want more power!” He says with greed, putting his shoes in the container again and going to the touch screen. “I’m gonna get all the upgrades.” So he chooses the upgrade button and starts pressing all of the buttons like more speed, strength, invisibility, flight, etc.

“Umm, Shadow.” Tails was worried about what his friend was doing. “I don’t think you should choose all the upgrades at the same time.”

“It’ll be fine. What will happen if I do?” And so Shadow presses the finish button and happily waits for his shoes to be upgraded. But something was wrong, the machine was making different sounds. These weren’t the ones the two heard before. It sounded like the machine was overheating and breaking down. “Uh oh.” Shadow says, regretting what he has done.

“It’s gonna blow! Get down!” Tails screams as the two hide behind huge objects to avoid what was gonna happen next. The machine turns to an orange color as it gets hot before it explodes in pieces. The two got out from their hiding spot to see the damage Shadow’s greed caused. “My machine!” He cries out.

“My shoes!” Shadow cries out too before his own shoes plopped right in front of him, without any harm. “Oh hey, I got my shoes.” Tails was just standing there in agony, all of his hard work gone. “Cheer up Tails, you can always get new parts.”

“Yeah and waste two more months trying to make it.” Tails was angry with Shadow although he should have known this would happen.

“On the bright side, you now know that it works. So I’ll personally thank you for it.” Shadow pats his head before walking back outside.

“Yeah…..now I know.”
