I decided a while ago that he's much older, probably in in his 60s. I don't know if he'd actually do something as moody as sit there with a knife, but I think he could be persuaded, tbh. He'd object to enjoying it, though, if you asked.

The other reason I did this was because I was having issues with the surface of my iPad; there was a lot of resistance, so the pen would snag and squeak and cause all kinds of problems. This is like-new condition, so there's no damage to the screen, so it's not that. The screen is clean, so it's not that. Namiin's iPad is also like-new, and doesn't have this issue - it's super slick and pleasant... I even got new pen nibs in case mine were worn? Nothing fixed it.

The screen was too clean.

Apparently other people have had this issue too, and the solution was to rub their hands all over the screen to smudge the absolute fuck out of it. I did that, and now my pen glides effortlessly! As soon as I wipe it off again? Back to squeaks.

So that was... that was bizarre lmao.

Namiin's iPad still doesn't have this issue, even if I clean it, but hers is the slightly earlier model from 2015, compared to my 2017 one. Apparently they just... put squeaky glass on the new one...? I have no idea.

Whatever, it works now!

I've since bought a screen protector, which feels 1000% better.
