Nilson was still an inexperienced pocket user, because of this he never learned how a digital pokémon battle worked. Luckily for the human his pokémon Hidron Feraligatr knew very well how to battle, slowly teaching him how his user could use the Gauge Programs that helped Feraligatr fight Pokémon that have no user.
Nil felt very guilty about attacking those pokémon, even though he knew they only damaged the devices and made some malfunction in the real world. On the other hand Hidron just wanted his user to have the same passion he had for battle, besides that with each pokémon defeated besides Feraligatr gaining more power Nilson gained more and more fame and money.
Only God and Arceus can say what this partnership of two beings with such divergent thoughts will lead to.
THE WONDERFUL GAUGE PROGRAM, USER DUELS, A POKÉMON BATTLE NEVER SEEN BEFORE!
There are six types of program gauge:
ATTACK: gives the pokémon a weapon, this weapon hurts the opponent and the number below the weapon picture is how much damage it deals if its movement is effective.
DEFENSE: gives the pokémon a temporary defense, these can vary a lot, being protections for specific types or for any attack. Defense programs have negative numbers under their pictures, this number indicates the damage limit the program can withstand.
Traps: the traps can be used in several ways, some activate after the opponent has some action and others are placed in random places on the battlefield, and there are traps that affect even the users that use them. They are identified by the skull below the program.
TRICK: Tricks are very similar to traps, perhaps their main difference is that instead of activating on the battlefield or on the opponent, they only activate on the Pokémon that activates them. These are identified by the brooch at the bottom of the program.
MODIFICATION: This one only changes the battlefield, usually the battlefield is determined by the place where users fight duels, this program is very useful to help your pokémon or harm the opponent's.
CHANGE: One of the most peculiar and risky programs in a duel, when the user uses this program the pokémon changes its type to one of the 18 existing types, not only that but it also changes the pokémon's stab attacks. A water type that becomes a fire type will have its movement changed from Water Gun to Fire Gun, for example
