A window of an endless moment.
This is a commission for Seff with the theme of getting lost in thought while appreciating the world around you for how it is. It was great to work with a commissioner who enjoyed the themes and way of presentation I like to focus on in my work and gave me a theme along those lines too. I also got the liberty with the fashion, which made this even more fun. It was almost like working on a personal piece. I hope you all enjoy this piece too, I personally think it turned out great. (:

It was such a treat to go through the process of commissioning this piece with Zyonji. I spent a lot of time bouncing ideas off her (Him? Sorry—I’m just now realizing I have no way of actually knowing for sure because it never came up XD), throwing out various themes and expectations, and discussing aspects of her art. In the end, I think the whole piece was distilled down from just a few of her targeted questions. Zyonji took one particular (arguably tumultuous) moment of natural awe from my life, filtered it through this mesh of halcyon warmth and quaint nostalgia, and ended up with this. How satisfying it is to see myself depicted in such a light. I love it.
