I've known people who have serious collections of these things. Once upon a time, they were a lot more common, but I think they've become obsolete. A lot ended up as paperweights.

When I was a child, I had a nightmare concerning those. I always thought they were lights, and they would turn on if something went seriously wrong.

That said, there's a flea market in Fairhaven? Where, may I ask?

looks like an old antique glass electric insulator from a utility pole....they used the blue green glass where it set them apart visually so they would be spotted better by linemen...we had to tie several lines on those in lineman /electrical school...some consider them collectable and im sure they are to a degree but i wouldnt have no idea on what to base their worth...I have a few myself

We used to have some of these old powerline insulators as well when we were younger. I don't know the era of this type exactly, but these type made of the green glass with the large threads inside would be considered "newer" models. The older ones that look similar to these that are still made of the same glass are smooth on the inside and are normally press-fit onto a large wooden peg. We never had any of those because they're fairly rare and not seen very often. But they did have some worth to them for their rarity. :)
