For over 25 years I've driven past a road on AZ 260 outside of Payson that pointed to Tonto Creek Fish Hatchery, Yesterday while driving home from a 3 day out of town work assignment I decided to check the area out. I never realized how nice the creek area was till I started hiking it. Next time back - probably in a couple of weeks I'm taking my fishing rod. Place was full of trout. Made for a dang good hike along the creek - been having issues with tight tendons in my toes, The rock climbing, and steep trail on the hike stretched them out. Funny how getting out in nature can help fix things the doctor just wants to give you pills or shots for...

Love it! Me, I just put this up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDgBEplHW-g Rather calming sound of water
Uh huh! I must confess mixing Beethoven's "Pastoral" symphony with the sound of the creek's rushing waters brought tears to my eyes, although I can't really say why. I guess my spirit was moved with the realization that I'm happy to be here to enjoy the sounds of music, both symphonic and natural.
Also, things seem to be returning to something close to the way things were before the Pandemic, which brings relief in many ways.

I was frankly amazed I didn't find any trash Everyone in AZ seems to have been hitting the trails and streams like mad during the Pandemic. I did notice the bulk of the folks along the creek stayed near parking areas with restrooms... Further up, no facilities - seems to act as a deterant. Walked down a game trail to a little glade full of ferns and a nice rock to sit on - no junk anywhere. Sort of dozed off there for a while, wind noise and water sounds just made me zone out. Loved it, other than a bird crapped on my jacket, but that washed off..
During the height of the lockdown I drove past the local mall, was all deserted and I spooked a deer that was by one main entry way. My stepmom was with me and we both said "Looks like an end of the world sci fi movie" Just glad the both of us got our shots and can get out more. We're not fully clear of the covid mess, but things are looking up. Just glad to see someplace that is rather unspoiled.
