Price inconsistancies occur all over Walgreens. It seems they're never properly maintained, and we've got so much merchandise that it can really slow things down on busy days, all the running back and forth to get proper price checks while trying to keep the line moving.

Oh goodness, that thousand yard stare, your mind completely unfocusing because there's no other choice.

I know that stare all too well.

"Barcode Not In System" I get that all the time at my grocery store. I love being told to just scan a different version of the same item. It seems my favorite SteamFresh meals are being discontinued. *tear* It's so sad. They are so easy to make and so delicious.

I really wish I wasn't one of the only people in this area who knows how to use self-checkouts. I'm not the only one who does, I'm just one of the only ones who knows what he's doing. I hate getting stuck behind some fool who needs help all the time because he can't get it right, but he's too stupid/proud to go thru a normal line.

I actually enjoyed making the more annoying customers run to go get another one.

Every time a US retail worker says "sir" to me I begin to think they're making fun of how young I look, or that I've done something wrong and they're trying to get me to act mature.

But yeah, quick-keying beats tricky scanning.

I use it as a term of respect, and tend to use it regardless of the customers age.

I know. It's just what's done over there. It's to show respect (or just said since it's the standard greeting and anything else is probably a little snotty-teenager-ish). It just throws me every time.
What also throws me is not displaying the price I have to pay. C'mon US, just include the damn tax already!

I've found that most retail service experiences are universal, be it in food service or otherwise.

I saw a woman verbally assault a cashier in a wal-mart because they didn't have Vitamin D Milk in stock in the coolers near the checkout lines. It was.... Somewhat nauseating.

It always drives me nuts when I'm in Subway, and the person next to me orders a sub, and when asked what type of cheese they want, they'll reply "White" or "Regular". What the hell does that mean??? Regular cheese. Plus there are 3 or 4 white cheeses.

A few years ago I started handing all the products to the cashier with the barcode directly facing them. They seem to appreciate it.

I try my best to make things as easy as possible for retail staff because I know the job has to be pretty troublesome a nice chunk of the time. Sadly my grandmother happens to be one of those folks who will usually chew out a cashier because she thinks the store's trying to cheat her out of money if the cashier has to do anything manually at the register...*sighs*

I worked retail for 3 days. That was 10 years ago. Now I work on the barcode scanner systems. c:
