Silk Raptors constitute a widespread family of warm blooded, furred avians on Neu Samara, only perhaps one or two percent have been cataloged to date. All are patagia winged, with heavy furred underbellies and leading wing edges. All are fierce in demeanor for their relatively small size.
While most are less than a kilo in mass, certain examples, such as the Julie's Silk Raptor (12kg) and the Devil's Silk Raptor (6kg) have been known to cast disturbing 'dragon like' silhouettes on the ground, and are considered dangerous when their territory is violated. A few Devil's Silk Raptors have moved to the cities to prey on acclimated pigeons, palm rats, small dogs, and other terrestrial transplants, roosting on the ledges and rooftops of apartment housing and business high-rises.
Typical Silk Raptors mate once every eighty or so local days, migrating to cliff rookeries with deep cliff nooks and crannies, and give live birth to as many as three young, after which the male cares for the young, leaving the female to hunt for her family. Exceptions are fairly common, however, and range from pride-harem style arrangements to parthenogenesis with the all female Miniature Silk Raptor.
Early attempts at taming Devil's Silk Raptors have been mostly successful using one of the animal's favorite foods as an incentive; berries from the Blackfrond, a giant swamp fern-like plant, which which it supplements its live prey diet.

Yeah, didn't think so when they came up randomly on the worldgen table - But drawing, thinking, they came out far cuter than I was expecting - hence humans, bloody humans, trying to tame a few. :>
Neu Samaran falconry will probably end including these little guys. They -will- snack out on mice, if given the chance :>
