A fellow FA member had this comment not too long ago: "Now if only you would do one with Tom the Cat actually kicking Jerry the Mouse's fucking ass. I hate that snide little rodent soooo much >.< Makes me feel sorry for the cat."

YES. THIS.
I got so frekin' tired of seeing Jerry abuse Tom nonstop over the years. One of my favorite Tom & Jerry memories is the one where Tom inherits a fortune, but only so long as he doesn't hurt any mice. Jerry agbuses this literally to the breaking point, and when Tom starts whaling on him he stops and says, "Gee... I'm throwin' away a million dollars... BUT I'M HAPPY!"
The other favorite moment, of course, being the incredibly cute catgirl in that one about the Western ranch.

I used to enjoy the older animateds with their well-done character design, careful art, and perfect slapstick timing. the later animateds, where Mitch used the design from, ain't that good anymore. or rather, aren't worth it.
the german version had a narrator speaking in rhymes out of Jerry's viewpoint.

Like from "is you is, or is you ain't my baby..." (which was Louis Jordan).
Also, from the Wiki entry:
"Co-director William Hanna provided most of the squeaks, gasps, and other vocal effects for the pair, including the most famous sound effects from the series, Tom's leather-lunged scream (created by recording Hanna's scream and eliminating the beginning and ending of the recording, leaving only the strongest part of the scream on the soundtrack) and Jerry's nervous gulp"

sometimes Jerry provoked it, sometimes it was just Tom following his instincts. personally I care more for the older, sophisticated animateds, the later episodes often were just plain cruel and had lost a lot of appeal. I still prefer these to those animateds from the 60's with those two crows I forgot their oiginal names of. the few episodes I saw had them best out evwerybody else in a most sensless, annoying way. like, bothering for the sake of bothering... even if someone shot back they came away unharmed.
come to think of it, Jerry barely got hurt either. not even if he was beaten with a fireplace shovel...
I guess what we see here is the end of the very last episode ever produced. :)

I'd line up to have a little cooked-Jerry spread on toast... what a prick. Come to think of it, Tom is no prize either. The old ones can be funny, but Tom & Jerry cartoons are rather like getting a chuckle from watching the reds and the brownshirts having it out on the streets of Munich, circa 1931.
