At the height of samurai rule in feudal Japan the Mifune clan was among the strongest to rule the lands. A long history of bloodshed had earned them power through the generations, all the way to Takashi Mifune, known to some as the demon hoof. A skilled warrior and cunning tactician, Takashi was faithful to his emperor, merciless to his enemies, and loved by his people and family. Yet such power gained tensions among the other clans, including those who sought the need to end the Mifune reign before it grew too powerful even for the emperor himself.

After an attack in the night left Takashi near for dead he survived by his will and lust for revenge. His family slain, his home burned, and his armor stolen, Takashi would need a new guise to survive long enough to extract his vengeance.
