"Magical paths are the way all magic users discover new spells and powers through their life, explaining them is a complex task because many of them have different rules and needs, but they all work on the same principle of "Experiences and Concepts". Once a magic user is aware of its powers he or she need to create their own mental dimension where they can study, practice and dissect concepts and experiences in a safe way, this can be guided by another magic user or can happen naturaly trough dreams, this mental dimension is ofthen called The Mindscape.
Each Mindscape differ from person to person, some can be calm and natural like a untouched beach or a desert, others can be in the heart of a volcano or in the middle of a warzone, really depends of personal taste,a magical user can bring other people in their mindscape to help in the training but it requires practice and some decent amount of power, one can experiment real pain, cold, heat in the mindscape, while phisicaly harmless, extreme emotions and experiences in the Mindscape can still cause real trauma.
In order to access at will the Mindscape the user must meditate deeply , once in the Mindscape the magical user will have visual access to its progress on the paths, this representation also differ from each person, it can be shapped like a tree were each fruit represents a new spell, a library were bits of knowledge become books, a constelation were each star is a new technique or all of these combined! Some paths of magic can be learned through books or teached , but the most complex and exotic ones require special deeds, materials or specific masters, like by example, the path of the Pyromancer can be started just by burning a finger on a match, or the path of the Stormcaster only require a magic user to see a thunderstorm...on the other hand some paths need more sacrifice, like the Path of Thorns that requires the user to endure a great humiliation and an almost lethal dose of pain , or the path of the Blade Dancer were the user needs to be exclusive female and to be taken to a very specific place where she need to study a series of runes.
In order to evolve on the paths most of them require practice, meditation or to discover new concepts, some paths are short and have very few spells on it, others are so long that no one ever reached the end of it,during the mages era users were forced to chose only one magical path their whole lives, but nowadays an user can pick and choose how many paths he wants to study at will, spells can be mixed and matched at discretion since theres no more rulling autority on magic." I made this one for some major lore explanation, because I'm not gonna lie, it's kinda annoying when people ask the "classes" of my characters or if my lore is based on D&D.... while not entirely original my ideas aren't based in the mainstream sources.
-So in summary, there is no fixed classes on magic in this universe, if you want to be a magic gardener who makes enchanted cake for your friends and also resurrect the dead you can!
-Also, real magic can't be learned by normal people, you need to born with powers to do it!the only way a normal person can get magical powers is by getting possessed by a demon who can perform spells...but this ain't a very healthy idea...
-Although normies can't do magic they can still use some magical artifacts, they can also perform some minor rituals but in order to work they need to evoke the intervention of some supernatural entity.
everytime I draw magical effects they look so trashy... .-.

Almost sounds a bit like Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai, which I'm not sure is how it goes in Dragon Quest in acquiring spells via a ritual that you have to succeed at, kind of like Wizards in D&D where they have to succeed at a Spellcraft check to inscribe a new spell in their spellbook (unless it's one of the 2 you get at every odd level)
"A tabletop role-playing game (typically abbreviated as TRPG or TTRPG), also known as a pen-and-paper role-playing game, is a form of role-playing game (RPG) in which the participants describe their characters' actions through speech. Participants determine the actions of their characters based on their characterization, and the actions succeed or fail according to a set formal system of rules and guidelines. Within the rules, players have the freedom to improvise; their choices shape the direction and outcome of the game." as Wikipedia say
In short, TTRPG is D&D, Cyberpunk, etc.
