Well, this is the picture I've drawn for the Eurofurence 16 Serengeti artcontest. Like I said in one of my Journals I've sadly messed up the whole size of the picture and it was way to small for the contest...
I've completly redrawn this picture now...
So I thought I could at least upload the "failed" version for the contest. Sure I'll upload the real artcontest picture too, but maybe just after Eurofurence. Maybe its the same picture but because of the way bigger size of the redraw version it has kinda a different felling on it.
I know its impossible to get a place on the cover of the conbook because the picture is really not good enough for it and I know they never would choose any digital work (also I noticed a lot of persons are thinking digital art isn't real art....) Whatever... Hope to get at least a place inside the book, would be very important for me because this time the convention will be at my native town. (just one year after I left my native town to start a new life far away.... lol irony)

On the whole topic you've mentioned, sadly it seems that like in any other circle (djing is one that really comes to mind), those from the "traditional" camp (watercolours, acrylics, pencils, etc) seem to think that the folks in the "digital" camp have it "easy", despite the simple fact that digital is merely another medium - you still have to develop the exact same skill set to achieve a desired quality.
Kind of reminds me how a few years ago there was a huge thing about having a $70,000 piece of paper and how it made you a "better" artist... Same is with the field I dabble in (audio), where so many seem to think a magic piece of paper will easily get you a job (sorry, it's actually your portfolio that gets you in, and portfolios do not discriminate between those who are broke because they put everything into their passion, and those who are broke because they went to school for art).

Addendum: I'm actually somewhat more fond of pictures done in the digital medium, simply due to the fact that artists seem more willing to actually take further risks in their pictures, and that there might be one of the reasons why the "traditional" camp seems to harp upon the digital camp - the fact that if you screw up colouring a background in acrylics, there are a lot less things you can do to fix it compared to Photoshop, or what I like to call the "There is no undo function" argument.
Some seem to think that (for some strange reason) digital is cheaper as well. Now yes, don't get me wrong, decent sized sketchbooks tend to cost $20-50 CAD at my nearby shop, and some of those only have 20-30 pages in them (at most normally around 100 or so). However, what they aren't realizing is that digital has costs associated with them as well. Want a larger tablet? There goes a few hundred dollars easily for an Intuos (which, sadly, the one college I want to go to (for photography.. photography at an art school o_O) requires), not to mention you still have to pay for the various pens if you want the simple ease of convenience such can provide. Then, since you're dealing with the digital domain, you need a damn good monitor, and the ones with close to perfect accuracy on colours are damn hard to find, and then add on calibration tools on top of that. We won't even mention the cost of a dedicated computer - which may sound like overkill, but traditional requires a dedicated workspace/area.
I personally can't see why there's such a huge war between the traditional and digital sides in this so-called battle, but then again, four years ago I was a die hard "if you aren't using turntables you aren't a dj!" kind of guy (which thankfully I am not anymore, given the sheer variety of technology and the fact you can do so much more with a mix of everything, or anything if you've the creativity)...
..I'm rambling, and kind of ranting in the comments section of someone's post o_O
