Spore's Affliction
π¦ππ¦
This might be a little dark.
I've just finished a possible design for Spore, a new character idea I had where someone catches a mutant zoonotic disease (a fungus that jumped from a feral rabid raptor to an Orthontis), but the parasite becomes self-aware inside the intelligent host's brain. I used a Pitsitakis [parrot dino-bird looking sapient creature] cause I didn't have any Avians of that breed as OCs yet.
One day, they woke up in this strange body, as if with amnesia and with a strong sense of dissociation. They have sparse memories of their host's former life, but a lot of trouble remembering anything besides basic tasks like language and walking.
After re-learning what the doctor was and going there . . . They got sent into a downwards spiral.
Note: eosinophils are a type of white blood cell that's present in the bloodstream when there's a parasite or a fungus inside the body. They're off the charts.

Thank you.
Spore will try to honour the former host's life by resuming their studies and living life to its fullest, cause there's a chance the previous consciousness isn't dead but stuck behind the eyes. And they'd apologise every morning in the mirror for taking their life.
But would it be a good ide ato let the friends and family know what truly happened? That's not an easy question to answer...

Hopefully Spore will be able to adjust to their sapience and self-awareness and perhaps even one day be able to come to terms with what guilt they feel for the host. Hopefully it would be realised that they're an innocent being effectively only born with the emergence of sapience and perhaps the first of a new species.
While honouring the former host's life by continuing their studies and living life to the full hopefully Spore would also be their own individual. I don't know though whether it would be good or not to let the loved ones of the host know what happened. They might be able to understand and forgive but it would always I think be awkward and painful for both parties. Making a fresh start with a new life elsewhere might be best.
The host can be mourned and remembered, honoured by Spore but their birth and a new intelligent species is a moment of wonder.
