When I say "function as a sorcerer" i mean - to be a known sorcerer and not be hunted down as a heretic :P
He's off the hook as long as he doesn't interferes with "mortals". Only exception is if he's directly affected. That's why he could "protect his property"(Zack) from getting punched by the innkeeper.

I mean... Zack literally sold himself as a whore-slave to pay for a spell, got abandoned by his "friends", was humiliated untill the change of his contract and all of that while reluctantly accepting his sexuality. Without the "silly himbo did oopsie" approach the story was already quite serious 🤷🏻♀️
