As their outings became a daily thing, they became more than just an opportunity to sneak off and indulge in the more primitive pleasures. The privacy often became an opportunity to play pretend in a sense, as if they were mated.
With both having obligations to the pride, officially this could never be the reality but escaping into fantasy a couple hours each day did both of them good.
