The golden light flickered across Viola's crouched form, making her almost like another of the many gargoyles that lay perched upon the church's precipices.
Timepiece was not exactly known for its religious aptitudes, but various Gods and Goddesses still made their way within the minds of its citizens. As they often did throughout Refuge in one form or another.
So buildings were repurposed or cathedrals built. Fancy golden walls erected and glittering windows installed. Oddly enough, the features fit within the Clockwork City. If anything, they aided thieves and their catchers by providing a myriad of areas with which to hide.
Just like where Viola was right now. In any other place, she would have been conspicuous, but within Timepiece, the aid of reflecting metal pipes, steam apertures, and dazzling lights gave her the perfect means to hide. Up high before the sparkling stained glass, she was as invisible as if she were hiding just behind the sun.
Her tail swung back and forth off of the ledge as the priest she had been following stopped pacing and another, older-looking, priest came in. They both looked around as if expecting someone to be just around the corner before they started to animatedly converse with each other, their flapping lips and raining spittle giving evidence to the seriousness of their chat.
Viola grinned as she flipped her notebook open, writing tool in hand.
Yes, this spot would do her just fine for now.
Timepiece is a city of beauty and secrets. Hidden behind every bright light is a dark shadow. For Detective Viola Lin, both hold their own interesting features, advantages, and dangers. As such, it's always handy to know where one needs to go when looking to get into trouble. Lest the gears grind you down like they have so many before you.
