Nirbi was one of many Kobolds under the employ of a Dragon, Unlike his brethren, he had an unusually rebellious streak that manifested in his hobby of displacing certain treasures that his master found sentimental. Finally becoming fed up with the daily inconvenience but unable to find out exactly who was doing it, the Dragon set a trap for the Kobold. A rare artifact, a physical manifestation of P'yexharsus' power that had gone a thousand years without seeing anything other than the inside of the Dragon's treasure room was brought out, and put on display. Within the hour a yelp of pain became audible in the cavern, as Nirbi's legs had merged together. Rather than killing him outright, the Dragon exiled the now helpless Kobold to the outside world. Nirbi, and a small group of defectors that carried their new leader in shifts left the lair, but unbeknownst to the Dragon, the Pearl of P'yex had left as well. Confident that the others would not steal it at the risk of ending up like himself, Nirbi studied the orb after mounting it into a staff and found that it gave him limited control over the natural world. The adventuring party promptly tracked down the fishtailed Kobold and offered him a wheelchair and enough silver to rent a space for his siblings to stay in the city. Before Nirbi could accept or refuse the offer, his crew handed him over and collected their coin.
