Part crinoid, part flamingo, and part lamprey, Dex comes from a System where there's only one person of each species at most and, sometimes, even more than one species per person. Since she's headless, no one in the System has ever seen a flamingo head, it stands to reason. As a martial arts teacher, anarcho-socialist folk hero, and bodyguard, she uses her four crinoid tendrils and two flamingo legs like arms and legs interchangeably, as comfortable upside-down as right-side-up. Speaking of comfort, when Dex is lounging around with her friends getting high and talking about her old space pirate days instead of fighting, with her tendrils and arms the way they are, she does tend to spread out like nobody's business. The voice from her lamprey maw is easygoing, melodious, surprising for her appearance at first. She tries to adapt her teaching to her students, not her students to her teaching. Dex tries to see mistakes as learning experiences - which is a bit easier when even death is a mistake you can come back from, to be fair...
