[Okay, THIS is the absolute last one]
After receiving the news that they would never regain their original lower halves, the group drifted from port to port, eventually arriving at one sea-side town that was in the process of being raided by pirates, the same group of pirates that had thrown the original crew into the ocean and started this mess. The group all but dismantled the ship as the pirate crew made their exit, forcing them to swim all the way to shore, allowing the locals to easily apprehend the half dead raiders. While Delwyn and Marbor spoke with the locals about what to do with them, Casonis convinced Tyson to mermify them, rendering them permanently unable to effectively man or raid ships. The team argued a bit over this decision but all eventually came to the conclusion that they now had some form of closure. They'd likely never again be able to fight great evils or snuff out terror in a dungeon, but they found purpose in protecting the town that they had saved. The locals renovated large boathouse into the group's guildhall, Yvette, a Selkie tavern maid, and no stranger to the life of a merperson, was appointed as the head of the hall by Marbor, which elevated the thankful tavern worker to the position of minor political figure in the area.

That would definitely make sense, but all of my merfolk have some veeery anatomically incorrect tails, their spine usually ends where it does on a human, and their "tail" is a weird singular limb attached to a fairly normal pelvis. I know, its anatomically inaccurate, but I couldn't have mers with big butts any other way
