I assure you good friend, It is not fake. I wouldn't climb down the side of a cliff to take a picture of something that's fake.

But yes..It is beautiful, I got more pictures of flowers like that.

actually it looks like a desert plant, that i find really odd thriving where it is.

i forget what its called, but i've seen them in some of the stores that have plant departments here in roseville. what i suspect, is someone planted some over on the coast somewhere and they've acclimated and gone feral. i've definately seen them, growing around here (were i'm pretty sure they're not native to either), where people have planted them too.

that flower shaped part isn't actually a flower. the plant is what's called a suculant (related to cacti). the actualy 'flower' of it, if i'm not mistaken, in the other picture of one, are those yellow corms. it IS a very strange plant. at least if its what i've seen that looks like that, though there may be several other species similar.

i know i have a book that its in, (sunset western garden cyclopedia, if i'm not mistaken) but it isn't where i can find it right now. i'll look it up when i get the chance, if someone else doesn't beat me to it.
