My main goal was to unify within the setting every part of the picture, as status bar, characters, background. I believe in video games whatever is on screen is part of the in-game landscape. Also I wanted to keep this type of backgrounds in fighting games, where are overcluttered, and are close to what old theater/ballet backgrounds looks like. Imagine ballet spectacle based on fighting games. That would be cool.
