8D well, i generally just use the brush, a biggish canvas (6x8 at 300dpi/ppi), and i try to treat it a bit like a pencil... I personally prefer to start with a smallish brush, set to very soft (0% hardness), and set some of the settings on the brushes menu to pen pressure. As in this picture http://www.sizzledcore.com/wp-conte.....stonehenge.png it's the little bucket with paint brushes in it on the right bar. I would recommend Shape dynamics > size jitter and set to pen pressure, slider at 0%, select smoothing, and I also use "other dynamics", but it's called something else in cs4 and cs5 than in cs2... it's the bottom most one that has a submenu, just above the line. set opacity and flow jitter to pen pressure 0%, and start doodling!
This setup is only really useful for doing sketching, and for actual lines you want to deselect other dynamics entirely, and zoom in with a firmer brush to get details and to fill in colour :)
Happy doodling!
