Well, last weekend's Megaplex convention has been a surprising success for me, and it wasn't just having fun and making badges, but it was a rare opportunity to meet a television personality that many have grown up with behind the educational science show of my generation: Paul Zaloom from "Beakman's World".
Personally, I was more of a Bill Nye person, but I have grown up watching a few episodes of this guy's show enough to be familiar with the guy. I mean, who isn't familiar with "Beakman's World"? A famous face.
Last week I posted a set of Science Badges I made before the con, and Paul's badge was made primarily as a filler to go with the set. But to my surprise, during the signing of autographs, he liked the badge. So I gave it to him, and he has worn the badge periodically for the rest of the con. I felt rather honored, and as a person that studied Theater in college, I had a real privilege to have a one-on-one with this guy after the con.
This year has been awesome, and I want to thank this guy, Paul Zaloom, for helping make this weekend awesome not only for me, but for all attendees of Megaplex 2010. You truly are the Man of Awesomeness. :)

Megaplex weekend rocked. I actually ordered a Beakman's World DVD on Amazon and it arrived on the FRIDAY of Megaplex. Thank God I decided to skip Friday and go down to Megaplex on Saturday, cause otherwise I wouldn't have gotten it autographed! I even got my picture taken with him and was one of the volunteers for his Beakman Live performance (I got to where a blonde wig and Paul said I was an 80's hair metal rocker.) BEST CON EVER!!!
My sister claimed to have a bit of a bitter encounter will Bill Nye as well. Which was sad, since I wanted to meet the guy, but the one time when I was a kid during book signing, I was too star-struck shy to do it.
And yeah, at closing ceremonies Zaloom said he guess he's a furry now and the audience was chanting "One of us" over and over. XD

Beakman was around before Bill, and then Bill took up the spot after Beakman had had his run.
