We know Not Those Who Have Gone Before
yes this one is a bit odd in how it came about...
sitting here I had a strange feeling and googled 'old pictures', pawing through them until I found one that spoke to me.
This is what came of the encounter.
enjoy...

*smiles, and hugs you warmly, and nuzzles* Beautiful, dear Vixyy, simply beautiful... When I'm flicking through old photos I always wonder about the people in them... who were they, what were they, why were they... No answers, ever. But it just makes me want, even more, one of those tall, square blue boxes with two inward-opening doors and a flashing light on top... then, I could go and find out
Thank you for sharing, dear friend.

Ah yes, photographs of times past, I have quite a few in an old book, going as far back as 1860-ish the sixties of the eight-hundreds where everyone was on opium! Instead of weird rock you had impressionism.
Lovely poem, I do often wonder how it would be if we lived in ages past, sadly we'll never really be able to know. I do find it great (though a little weird) to see these old photos and letters from the era.
Wonderful, thanks for writing this lovely poem~

And thank you for your lovely comments... I'm trying to think of a way to demonstrate living in a past age - in fact I was thinking of this even today. You will find a lot of 'how things were' in the simplest of everyday implements.
I remember when I was young I was given a writing packet type thing to take off to school with me. This was a throw back to my grandparent's day when paper was not so common place and very expensive. This was a leather bound zip up case that contained all of your writing materials for letter writing. (envelopes, paper, pens and stamps) As I recall, postage had just jumped from 10 cents to 12 cents, and you still used super light 'onion skin' paper for letters going air mail. (and that is just one item)

*smiles... both obstacles to be overcome...
to my knowledge she has not yet visited. I don't believe all of them stay around, but move on to better things. I did have an up close and personal with a ghost on a family lighthouse in Maine a gazillion years ago and it was scary - but - as soon as it happened I also experienced the most peaceful moment of my life.

I believe in the possibility of ghosts. I am convinced they cannot hurt us any more than we are capable of hurting ourselves. Still, I have never met one myself. I think apprehension when experiencing new things is a universal experience.
What did you experience at the lighthouse?

Oh Lord... the darned fellow did a Jacob Marley to me, walking up the steps to the bedroom one at a time and then sat on the end of the bed.
The fellow who was stationed there told us he slept with a gun under his pillow because he would hear furniture moving around all the time.
Quite an experience.

There's nothing I love more than wandering around an antique store, but it always pains me when I see old photos and family portraits. These are the things that should be passed down to the younger generations to keep and remember, but instead they sit orphaned on a dealer's shelf in the company of mismatched odds and ends. Would that more could receive such a nice memorial as yours here!
