Wolk and Zajec immigrated to America cause the USSR didn't tolerate their relationship but then they separeted from each other and started a new life without each other. Wolk is Legoshi's grand-grandfather and Zajec is Haru's grand-grandfather or grand-grandmother (cause i dont know if the rabbit was male or female XD ) .
I literally just watched a video about the soviet cartoon this is based on.
