I thought the term "red" was correct in english... I've searched it in my dictionary but well, I've changed the word, so now I think you (and everyone) will understand it.

Mmmm... so the term "red" exists |D

Anyway, here this term is used more frequently to say that someone is "liberal" not "communist"

So yeah, I think liberal fits better |3

Making a mistake on a slang term is something even native speakers can do, when they're outside their region! No worries :)

To me in Canada, "s/he's a red" sounds like an Americanisation for Communist. I think Canadians just say "a Communist" XD

Creo que la traducción mas correcta sería "Leftie" porque en Inglés se considera un poco despectivo, igual que "rojo" en Español.
