Finally finished it! This is probably my last FL Studio work (Logic is just so much more stable/fast/professional/Mac compatible).
This is the final zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 when you finally board the space station. I tried to make it sound appropriately overimposing, evil, and claustrophobic. That said you only hear about 2 seconds of it in the game before fighting Silver Sonic, and the same will probably go for Sonic 2 HD should this get accepted for that project.
Please comment! Anything. It makes me happy.
UPDATE: Toned down the distortion guitars. You have no excuse not to play it louder now.

There's a group of people on the Sonic Retro forums trying to make an HD version of Sonic 2 from scratch (This was long before Sonic 4 was announced). I was excited at the idea and offered to write some of the music for it, and an earlier version of this piece was one that one of the project leads really liked. I'm not sure what's going on with it these days though as I stopped going to the forums. They were extremely disorganised (not to mention incompetent with technical details and project management) and many of them were needlessly antagonistic, so I decided I'd just finish what I intended to for my own enjoyment and they can use what they use when I submit them all a few months from now.
It's not dead by any stretch of imagination, but progress has been very hush-hush as of late, apparently. Emerald Hill is finally done and Hill Top is being prepped for a release.
The thing may be going slow as fuck, but it's not dead. And I don't see how that'd be "deserved," anyway.

Really good. It manages to stay faithful to the original's progression, and the sense of evil is enhanced by a fantastic driving guitar line shredding its way through the middle of the track. The electronica features allow it to suit with the environment for which it will be associated. Well done on this, and good luck with making the cut for the project!
Nicely done, the menacing mood definitely comes through in the snarl of the guitar part. The electronic line over the top sounds sinister in its... unusual happiness.
I had never realized that there was quite so much to this piece, as like you said, you only ever hear two seconds of it! That said, it's probably better that it was put here rather than in the game... which sounds like a classic example of how well Internet collaborations of game makers usually work :)

As SonicTweaker mentioned, the guitar is a bit overpowered, especially since the rest of the instruments, for the most part, sound (comparatively) un-changed-sounding versus the original: the result is a jutte jarring and unbalanced. However, the intro you added in is a very nice touch.
And yeah, it's always funny how long the entire piece is, in spite of the standard player never hearing more stepping in one screen to face Silver Sonic. I only ever heard it myself due to taking a break from frustration.
