In the midst of a great celebration of pride, a lone grizzly stares at his wavering reflection in the shimmering pool below him. He’s unsure of his place here, in the world. He feels as if he is so many different things all at once- none of them good. He mumbles curses under his breath as he stands there, feeling bad about feeling bad about himself.

Get over yourself, he chided.

Go tell someone how you’re feeling, his brain also consoled.

You’ll just hurt them like you did all the others.

But you feel like you’re going crazy.

Round and round it went, back and forth. The gurzzly was still paralyzed. He didn't know if he could move or even wanted to. The white, blank flag stared him in the face, almost daring him to find himself. But he chose not to, and started at his reflection- the easiest gateway to himself he could see.
