Oh gee oh man this answer went LONG. RogueWander managed to hit onto one of the more... considered aspects of my lore. I imagine this probably wasn't quite the level of answer they were expecting.
Still, was quite fun to really dig into something and explore/explain a li'l more how the drinks work! Systems of magic are something that have always intrigued me, and whilst I could've just shrugged and gone 'eh it magic', fuckit, that's the boring answer.
Obviously the interesting answer is a wall of text instead. Everyone loves walls of text.
It was also fun to experiment with a few things artistically! First of all, this is the first time I've ever played around with Gradient Maps which... yeah, turns out I really enjoy using! Allows a sorta unique approach to colouring and shading together, which I think lets sketch pieces really POP. It's quick... but I think visually looks great!
Secondly, this is my first time doing sorta... 'alts' of the same piece as it were - doing the three different builds of Caek. Was interesting to try and make each piece still look recognisably in sequence/associated, whilst also making them look fine as their own piece. Choosing what to keep consistent and what to change, and how to go about that (especially with the softer shading) was a fun little unique trip!
I do have to say, results-wise, it probably meant Caek wound up looking less cartoonishly large than I'd normally have her portrayed as when using Brargh. But I dunno, maybe she took smaller doses for this particular demonstration?
Lastly, that last pic was really fun to draw. I just like the goofiness of mixing a bunch of changes together, with the challenge of still making it recognisably the character even through all of that. And y'know what? I think it looks pretty alright!
