Allosaurus fragilis - Base introduction - OPEN
A pretty big update to my allosaurus base! Possibly one of my most detailed ones as well, along with kaprosuchus.
This design is $25, comment to claim!
Allosaurus is quite a bit popular, so I'd say we all know it. You may know of big Al or my personal favorite, Broken Jaw.
It was abundant in numbers, especially for large predators within the Morrison Formation. It's known for its lacrimal boney horns, impressive arms in comparison to other theropods, and three fingers with pretty imposing curved claws adorning them.
One of the things it's also known for is its impressive gape that could have been able to maximize around a 92-degree angle! The trade-off for that huge gape was, however, weak jaw muscles.
Its social behavior is speculated in a few directions, but one common one is since it preyed on large sauropods was that it likely hunted in packs. Despite this, it's figured to be unlikely it was as sophisticated as a pack of wolves or lions, and more likely that they would be drawn together just to get a bite of food. There is apparently evidence of cannibalistic tendencies as well.
Interestingly enough, it coexisted with ceratosaurus and torvosaurus (a megalosaurid) in both the United States and Portugal, which means it likely had to fill its own niche for survival, as did the other carnivores so they likely didn't have to compete directly.
You can see them in my roster on my Customs page!
Not F2U or P2U, they're for my adopts or customs only.
