
Kinda says it all, don't it? Although you can't see it in the photo, it's not really the end. This is just as far as the train can go, the track does continue on to where the strip mine was. Or at least I think so. I so VERY MUCH wanted to explore and find out for sure, but I didn't want to become separated from the group. The rails and ties all seemed to be in place, albeit old and rusty and completely covered in vegitation. There were eve a few saplings (young trees) growing between the ties.
If I could, and with permission, I'd love to go back and explore further. It would also be nice if the track were restored, that's what I think anyway.

This is in Ashland Pennsylvania, USA. It's part of a "Living Museum" caled the Pioneer Tunnel, which is a preserved 1920s coal mine and steam train ride. You can't, or not allowed, to hike to this spot. I got there by riding the train. I've posted more pics in my gallery.
