The Landsknecht were a type of Renaissance era German Mercenary, They were often trained in early black powder weapons, Halberds and other Polearms, and were known to one of two types of sword, Messers and Katzbalger.

In this concept I have taken a lot of liberties, the Attire is from the mid 1600s, with the firearms being the from the mid 1800s. This is supposed to the costume of an eccentric character running around the battlefields of the 1840s. Still using an enormous Gross-Messer sword giant plume feathered hat of the colourful Renaissance period.
There are three types of typical Messer swords, Langesmesser/ Long knife. Grossmesser/Great Knife, and Kreigsmesser/ War Knife.
