Name: Cap. Elijah Small
Location: Harwich, MA
Date: 1778
Carver: Daniel Hastings
The captain's wife, who remarried, is buried to his right. Her stone is the previous posting.~
The stone may have been cut at the same time as hers (1798). It was not uncommon then to cut a husband & wife's stones at the same time even if one was widowed years earlier.
The carvings style is more in keeping with DH's late career. Those who can be bothered will find examples of DH's 1770's style and find out what I mean. :V
