Well, I found the issue in my PC, and luckily Cubase is suuuuuper light on GPUs. (I got one with a hacked BIOS on it so it's not what it claims to be, just as I originally suspected) but that's irrelevant, I've been working on my song quite a bit tonight, five hours straight so far!
I have further textured the breakdown, added quite a few more layers to the intro, and even started the fourth chapter of the song! I'm still debating extending the intro to about twice or three times its length, but I'm definitely still on the fence about that one.
I'm also hoping to set up some nice analogue stuff on the mix, using my three Korg mini-synths for some nice, warm texture, and maybe a lead! My monotrons are a bit nightmarish to play with my fat fingers, but the VolcaBASS lets me use it rather easily, and I can just use a pen or something to play the monotrons, I guess.
I would do vocal chops, like I thought before, but none of my mics are up to the standards I need for fidelity for this mix, so I'm probably going to sample from some of my old dictation tapes I used for audio diaries a little while ago.
